When sites are submitted for listings, our editors visit each one and evaluate it on the following criteria:
- Subject Matter - Is it related to science fiction or fantasy?
- Design- Is it easy to read and navigate? Does it load quickly and cleanly without errors or with few missing graphics or broken links? How is the color scheme? Can it be read easily or is it dark text on a dark or busy background? (one of our assistant editors is color blind which gives sites a really good test!) How is the navigation? Is it easy to find things on the site or do you have to really look hard to find what you are looking for?
- Content - Is it informative? Is it comprehensive on the subject it is supposed to be presenting? How often is it updated? Sites that aren’t updated at least twice a year may be de-listed.
- Fun - Overall usefulness and fun - Is it a boring site?
 Sites are then given between 0 and 5 Rockets - Those with 5 rockets are nearly perfect sites and are, of course, the rarest but you will be assured they are the best to visit!
Remember that to be listed here at all the site must be very, very good! Even a 1 Rocket rating means that it is above the average web site! On the “normal” scale from 1 to 10, 1 rocket indicates about a 6, 2 rockets a 7, 3 rockets an 8, 4 sites a 9, and 5 a perfect 10! Our editors are tough, but always try to be fair. Sites that have their own domain also tend to rank higher than those with long addresses as this factors into the design and ease of use of a site (having to remember a 50 character name with a lot of “/” or “~” is not easy!)
